We had such a wonderful time and the cabin
was just perfect and the most beautiful cabin to vacation in.... there was
everything a person could possibly want or need already there even though
we took a lot of stuff with us just in case.... it was cleaned perfectly
and I hope we left it like it was..... we would definitely visit again and
we had so much fun just relaxing.... just wish the view had been a little
prettier like where we could see the mountains or a lake or stream
somewhere, but we did not leave the entire time we were there so that did
not make that much difference either...... just so warm, inviting, and
cozy, but most of all CLEAN.... Deanna does a great job cleaning and like
I said up above.... just PERFECT and absolutely enjoyable and the price
was great also.... we enjoyed the view of the mountains on our way up and
back home.... you have a beautiful vacation mountain home....Thanks again
for allowing us to stay there.... Mary

Area Activities
There's plenty to do in the area. 'Riverbrook' is just a
short drive from the white water rafting and kayaking venues on the Nantahala and Ocoee rivers. That's in addition to all the great
activities the North Carolina Smokies have to offer
Boating on
Nantahala Lake - You may bring your own boat or jet ski, or rent
a pontoon boat or canoe
Fishing - A relatively low number of boaters makes Nantahala a great
fishing lake. You'll find walleye, crappie, sunfish, trout and bass
all available for your private fish fry. And
below the dam, where the river cascades toward the Nantahala Gorge,
you'll find some of the best fly fishing spots in the eastern US.
Horseback riding - Several nearby stables, including Lonesome Dove
Stables, offer guided trail riding.
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, in nearby Dillsboro and Bryson City,
offers several scenic excursions.
Mountain Biking - The nearby Tsali
trails offer some of the best mountain biking trails. Bikes can be
rented at the Nantahala Outdoor Center .
Other nearby things to do - Great Smoky Mountains National Park,
Cherokee Indian Reservation, Biltmore House, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge

Which is it? Smoky or Smokey?
We spell it both ways on this web site. So, if you're searching for
vacation rental accommodations and log cabins for rent in the "smokey"
mountains, you'll be sure to find us. Both are common spellings. But
if you want to be correct about it, spell it the way the National
Park Service does — the Great Smoky Mountains.
Smokey the Bear, on the other hand, spells his name the other way.

Nantahala River
The Nantahala River, located in the
USFS Nantahala National Forest, is one of America's favorite whitewater playgrounds. Its ideal location at
the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, close to Atlanta GA,
Knoxville TN, Greenville SC, Asheville NC and just a short distance from Murphy,
Andrews, Robbinsville, Franklin, Cherokee and Bryson City, NC makes the Nantahala River convenient to mountain

Western North Carolina Lakes
Fontana Lake
Fontana Lake is
located in the western North Carolina. Appalachian Mountains of Graham County and Swain County. Fontana Lake is a 29-mile-long scenic
mountain lake with more than 280 miles of shoreline and nearly 11,000
acres of water. The 480-foot-high
Fontana Lake Dam on the Little Tennessee River is the tallest dam in the
TVA system. The Appalachian Trail, which extends over 2,000 miles from
Georgia to Maine, crosses the top of Fontana Lake Dam.
With most of Fontana Lake's 280 miles of shoreline preserved by the
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and USFS Nantahala National
Forest, Fontana Lake's breathtaking beauty remains unspoiled. Quiet
secluded coves and inlets on Fontana Lake provide excellent
opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, or just relaxing and
enjoying the view. From the spring's mountain laurel to the glorious
colors of fall, Fontana Lake's engaging scenery can be enjoyed year round.
Game fish in Fontana include smallmouth and largemouth bass, white
bass, walleye, and crappie.
Lake Chatuge
Lake Chatuge is a beautiful clear water lake surrounded by mountains of
both Georgia and North Carolina. The sprawling fingers with many islands
and coves cover 9000 acres and have 200 miles of shoreline. A great
majority of the Lake Chatuge borders USFS national forest or is owned by
Tennessee Valley Authority and is undeveloped. Lake Chatuge is known to
have good bass fishing and is regularly stocked. Large Canadian geese
can often be seen in the spectacular rural and mountain scenery of Lake Chatuge. Lake Chatuge is located on the Hiwassee River in western North
Carolina. The reservoir is named after a nearby Cherokee settlement.
Lake Hiwassee
Lake Hiwassee is one of the
most picturesque vacation retreat lakes in the southeast. With most of
Lake Hiwassee's
163 miles of shoreline preserved by the USFS Nantahala National Forest,
Lake Hiwassee's breathtaking beauty remains unspoiled. Quiet secluded
coves and inlets on Lake Hiwasse provide excellent opportunities for swimming,
boating, fishing, or just relaxing and enjoying the view. From the
spring's mountain laurel to the glorious colors of fall, Lake Hiwassee's engaging scenery can be enjoyed year round. Bear Paw on Lake
Hiwassee is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

Asheville, the Rocky Broad River tears its way in a series of rapids
down through Hickory Nut Gap. This crystal clear water flows through a
valley shaped roughly in the form of a Maltese cross to make Lake
Lure.

an island of seven acres and many small bays and inlets with a
background of tree clad hills and mountains.
